About the Navy PRT
The Physical Readiness Test (PRT) is the Navy's semi-annual fitness assessment, paired with the Body Composition Assessment (BCA). It has three events: push-ups, the forearm plank, and a cardio event (the 1.5-mile run is standard; a 2-km row, 500-yard swim, or stationary bike may be authorized as alternates). Unlike the Army and Marine Corps tests, the Navy PRT has no separate combined-score minimum — a Sailor passes by scoring Probationary (45 points) or higher in every individual event.
Scoring Categories
Each event is scored against one of 12 fixed point values, grouped into five named categories:
| Category | Points |
|---|---|
| Outstanding (High / Medium / Low) | 100 / 95 / 90 |
| Excellent (High / Medium / Low) | 85 / 80 / 75 |
| Good (High / Medium / Low) | 70 / 65 / 60 |
| Satisfactory (High / Medium) | 55 / 50 |
| Probationary | 45 (minimum to pass) |
Falling short of the Probationary standard in any one event fails that event — and the overall PRT.
Data Source
This calculator uses the Navy's PRT scoring tables from Guide 5, Physical Readiness Test, Table 4-1 (altitudes under 5,000 feet). The Men's 20-24 bracket values were cross-checked against the most recently published standards and are unchanged. The Navy updates fitness standards periodically — always confirm your official score through PRIMS, and check for the current Guide 5 before relying on this for a record test or fitness report.
Frequently Asked Questions
What events are on the Navy PRT?
Push-ups (2-minute max reps), the forearm plank (max hold time), and a cardio event — usually the 1.5-mile run, with an authorized 2-km row, 500-yard swim, or stationary bike as alternates.
What's a passing Navy PRT score?
Probationary (45 points) or higher in every individual event. There's no combined-total minimum the way the Army AFT and Marine Corps PFT/CFT have — each event passes or fails on its own.
Does the Navy PRT include a rucking event?
No. The PRT doesn't include a loaded ruck march. If you're also training for Army or Marine Corps standards, see our military ruck standards guide.
