About the Army Fitness Test (AFT)
The AFT replaced the ACFT (Army Combat Fitness Test) as the Army's official fitness assessment starting June 1, 2025. It keeps the deadlift, hand-release push-up, sprint-drag-carry, and plank from the ACFT, drops the standing power throw and leg tuck/plank-alternative structure the ACFT used, and finishes with a two-mile run instead of the ACFT's two-mile run variant scored differently. Each event is worth 0-100 points, for a 500-point maximum.
Two Scoring Standards
The AFT scores Soldiers differently depending on their military occupational specialty (MOS):
- General standard (most Soldiers): scored against age- and sex-specific tables, with a 300-point total minimum to pass and at least 60 points required in every individual event.
- Combat standard (21 designated combat-arms specialties): scored against a single sex-neutral, age-normed table, with a higher 350-point total minimum and the same 60-point-per-event minimum.
Data Source
This calculator uses the Army's official AFT scoring tables (AFT_Scoring_Scales_250601.pdf, approved 15 May 2025, effective 1 June 2025), published at army.mil/aft. The Army updates fitness testing standards periodically — always confirm your official score against your unit's current test results, and check army.mil/aft for the most current published tables before relying on this for a record test, promotion board, or PCS physical readiness requirement.
Frequently Asked Questions
What events are on the Army Fitness Test?
Five events: the 3-repetition maximum deadlift, hand-release push-up, sprint-drag-carry, plank, and two-mile run. Each is scored 0-100 points for a 500-point maximum.
What's a passing AFT score?
At least 60 points in every event, plus a 300-point total under the General standard or a 350-point total under the Combat standard (21 designated combat specialties, sex-neutral scoring).
Is the AFT the same as the ACFT?
No — the AFT replaced the ACFT on June 1, 2025. The scoring tables changed between the two tests, so an ACFT score does not directly translate to an AFT score.
Does the AFT include a rucking event?
No, the AFT's five events don't include a loaded ruck march. Ruck marches are tested separately under standards like the Army's 12-mile foot march — see our military ruck standards guide for those requirements.
